Cheap Fall Break Fun!

Here are some cheap or FREE ways to enjoy Fall Break in Oldham County and around the area!

Students are off of school October 19-28, 2018

FARMS/ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS:
Foxhollow Farm
Explore this lovely Crestwood farm over Fall Break. Learn more here.

Mulberry Orchard
Located in Shelbyville
Harvest Festival running on the weekends through October 28th. Pumpkin patch, farm playground, corn maze, food and more!

Gallrein Farms
Located in Shelbyville
Several activities available only on the weekends, but if you want cheap fall fun, go during the week where you can visit the farm animals, play on the hay pyramid and enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch for less money.

Henry's Ark
Visit this little gem petting zoo in Prospect.  Don't forget to bring a donation for their revitalization project!  Also, remember they are closed on Mondays and you cannot feed the animals.

Salato Wildlife Education Center
Just a short drive to Frankfort.  Learn about Kentucky native animals!
Children ages 5-18 $3, Adults $5
Closed on Sunday & Monday.  Check out their Halloween event too!

Cailin Art Studio
Check their Facebook page and website for updates on their studio events and hours. Fall Break camps for different ages also available.

Whet Your Palette
This fun paint studio in Anchorage has drop in painting hours and 1/2 off Tuesdays!  Check out their website for a full schedule!

Speed Art Museum
Free admission on Sundays.

KMAC
Family Fun Day every Saturday.  Join KMAC educators for a FREE day of family art making for all ages! Tour KMAC's new exhibition, explore Art Ideas in Studio 715, and make art projects in the Education Studio.

Wednesday Wonders
The Parklands of Floyds Fork (two different times/locations in the park)

Explore a new science wonder with a story and related science experiment. Recommended for children ages 7 and under.

Wilderness Louisville Forest Adventures
Jefferson Memorial Forest
Saturday, October 20th
Forest staff and volunteers will introduce visitors to their native plant gardens and animal exhibits. Activities for children will be provided in the Nature Explore area. Climb the 52-ft Alpine Tower, try your hand at archery or fish on Mitchell Hill Lake. Free pumpkins, pumpkin decorating, and hay rides.

ColorFest
Bernheim Forest
Saturday, October 20th and Sunday, October 21st
Celebrate the fall season at ColorFest – a family favorite! Visitors can slingshot pumpkins, naviagate the hay maze, make mud pies, and enjoy a hayride in the splendor of Bernheim’s colorful landscape. Other highlights include live music, hands-on nature activities, unique local foods, Kentucky arts and craft vendors, and more.
$10 per carload

Josephine Sculpture Park
Located in Frankfort, this park is open 365 days and is always free.  Participate in the several scavenger hunts, look at the many sculptures on the grounds, have a picnic and enjoy the beautiful park.

Clifty Falls State Park
Located about an hour away in Madison, Indiana, this park has several trails to walk, playgrounds, a lodge for dining and beautiful waterfalls.  Check out the walking trail along the Ohio River and Main Street in Madison while you're visiting.

Check out an Oldham County Park, picnic at Lake Jericho (boat and kayak rentals available) or visit a Hiking or Walking Trail!

MOVIES:
Village 8 Movie Theater
Watch a movie for as cheap as $2!

Iroquois Ampitheater
Watch a free Halloween themed movie on Monday night.  Shows start at 7pm.  Hocus Pocus is showing on Monday, 10/22

INDOOR:
All About Kids Sports Center
Open gym/swim for 18 years and younger. Fall break camp also available.

Oldham County Family YMCA
The YMCA is offering Youth Performance Training for children ages 8-15. Dates are October 25th (6pm) and 27th (11am) and the cost is $5. Sign up at the YMCA.

Oldham County Public Library
They have several activities to choose from during Fall Break.  Read a book, play a board game or check out one of their special events.  Scooby Doo Day & a special story time with Bruce the Bear are a couple of the events scheduled during Fall Break.

LaGrange Community Center
Open gym, board games, indoor walking track available for Oldham County residents to use for free! Facebook page here.

Grab some friends and get a group discount rate!

Main Event
Monday Night Madness for $10.95 per person for unlimited arcade or activities. 4pm-close. They have other specials - check out their website for details.
