Fitz Freeze Frozen Treats is in its fourth season in Oldham County.  It is located at 4411 West Highway 146 in Buckner.  You can’t miss the bright blue building and signage from Highway 146 close to Buckner Elementary School and Oldham County Middle School.

We stopped in last year to try some Hawaiian shaved ice.  With 60 flavors to choose from, it was hard to settle on a final decision.  We ended up trying Mango Tango, Cotton Candy Blue and Angel Food Cake.  Of course, we all tried each other’s flavors and agreed that they were all very yummy.  There are mixes already figured out for you or you can get up to 3 flavors in your cup of your own choosing.  Some unique flavors we noticed were Banana Cream Pie, Bug Juice, and Popeye.  You’ll have to visit to figure out how they taste.
This Oldham County, family-owned business has a great mission statement which visitors can read next to the order window.  The treats started out as a hobby for the children to learn how to count money and learn workforce skills to apply in the future.  They are helping in the bus and are very friendly and respectful.  The tips they receive help them earn money toward vehicles when they turn 16 and then anything extra will go toward college.  We love that this family is working together and teaching important skills.
Support this new treat spot and follow Fitz Freeze on Facebook to keep up with hours, specials, renting the truck and more.  There are plenty of options and space to sit under a bright blue umbrella to enjoy your treat. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
