Ernestos Mexican Cuisine in LaGrange

Located on Main Street in Downtown LaGrange, Ernestos has Mexican cuisine combined with Oldham County history and charm. The tall ceilings, old fixtures and large glass windows create a warm dining experience. The historical building has plenty of space for guests to enjoy lunch or dinner. If you would rather dine outside, there is a back deck with seating, umbrellas and colorful flowers throughout. Or you can pick a small table out front and hope to catch a train coming down the middle of Main Street.
We were visiting the LaGrange Farmers’ Market the day we decided to dine at Ernestos for lunch. The restaurant has been in LaGrange for a little over a year now. Their menu prices are comparable to other Mexican restaurants in the area. The “Pregnant Burrito” caught our eye on the menu and made us laugh. I’m sure you can imagine this burrito being stuffed with yummy goodness. The sides were delicious and Ernestos had their own unique seasonings to the traditional sides of refried beans, rice and charro beans. Plantains are also available which make for a nice, sweet treat with your meal.
Ernestos Mexican Cuisine has specials throughout the week which includes a Kid’s Night on Tuesday. The kid’s meals are already affordable at only $5 per plate, but on Tuesday, they are 50% off with purchase of an adult dinner. When we visited, my daughter chose the rice with grilled chicken and cheese sauce and the plate of food was huge! Our entire family thought the complimentary salsa and chips tasted fresh with just the right amount of spice. All of our meals were delicious and beautifully plated.
The next time you’re in downtown LaGrange, stop in at Ernestos located at 117 East Main Street. They are open every day of the week. There is plenty of shopping nearby along with several benches and tables to sit outside and relax. Enjoy the small-town charm of the city and unique architecture while grabbing a delicious dinner or lunch.
